Virtual Backgrounds

We are pleased to offer virtual backgrounds for you to use during the University of Florida Student Affairs reception.

Reception Program

The “Friends of University of Florida Virtual Reception” at 5:30 p.m. EST. We will begin with a welcome from Dr. D'Andra Mull, vice president for Student Affairs.

After the welcome, we invite you to join us a on new platform called Spatial Chat.

Once you enter Spatial Chat, please create a profile with your name and any information you prefer. We suggest your position title and your current institution. You will enter the space and see a small version of yourself.

Spatial Chat allows users to drag their icon and move to others amongst the venue. How close you are to another person will allow you to engage in large conversations or private ones. If you move your icon away from them, you will no longer be able to hear the icons as you distance yourself.

We have built out several rooms for attendees to network and reconnect. If you want to talk with others in a different room, on the right side of your screen, click on a new room, such as the “Orange Room” and connect with colleagues there.

Networking Scavenger Hunt

While you are exploring our Spatial Chat space, we invite you to complete our networking scavenger hunt. If you complete your board, find Dr. Lane Washington to let him know and win a prize. If you are not local to Gainesville, we will mail your prize.
